Installing the browser extension
For browser-based practice systems. One click, one sign-in, and a permission model worth understanding before you approve it.
If your practice system runs in a browser, Mesio works inside the tab you already have open. There is nothing to install on the computer itself.
Three steps
- Add it from the Chrome Web Store. One click, on whichever computer you use your practice software on.
- Sign in once. That links the extension to your practice. You are not asked again on that computer.
- Open a patient and choose Set up Mesio. The first time, it takes a minute to learn where your software keeps notes and charts.
As with the Bridge, signing in requires your business associate agreement to be signed first, for the same reason.
The permissions, and why they are narrow
This is worth a minute of your attention, because browser extensions are exactly the sort of software that should be asking for less than it could.
At install, Mesio asks for access to a short list of named practice-management domains and to Mesio itself. It does not ask for access to every site you visit, which is the usual and much broader request.
If your system is not on that list, there is a button that grants access to that one site. That happens on your click, for that site, and it can be revoked. So the broad permission exists, but you hand it over deliberately rather than at install time.
It is not there to watch you browse. The narrow install list is the practical expression of that. An extension that took blanket access at install would be asking you to take its word for it instead.
If your system is not listed
Install it anyway and try. It works with most browser-based systems, and where it cannot learn yours, Mesio still works. You can move any finished note across with one click.
That matters more than the list does. Not being on a supported-systems list is a reason to expect less automation, never a reason to be unable to use the product.
What it tells the store
The published description is deliberately the same promise made everywhere else. It connects your Mesio account to your own practice system, shows your schedule inside that tab, and, at your request, enters drafted notes and charts into your system's own fields for you to review and save.
