Reading and signing the note

How to correct a note quickly, why nothing you change is ever lost, and what signing actually does.

The note arrives in your template, section by section. Every section is editable by typing, and edits save as you go.

Fixing a line without rewriting it

Select any text and a small toolbar appears. You can bold it, ask for more detail, which pulls from the recording to expand that line, or type an instruction in your own words like make this more concise or fix the tooth numbers.

The change comes back as a proposal you can read side by side with what you had. Your original text stays exactly where it is until you accept.

Correcting out loud

There is a hold-and-speak control for the same job, for when your hands are occupied. Hold it, say what you want changed, release. It applies the instruction and tells you which sections it touched.

It only listens while you are holding it. It never opens the microphone on its own.

Nothing you change is lost. Every edit creates a new version rather than overwriting the last, so getting earlier text back is always possible. Undo here is a property of the record, not a buffer that expires when you navigate away.

What signing does

Signing marks the note reviewed and locks it. The button then reads Signed, and clicking it again unlocks the note for editing.

Only the provider on the visit can sign it. That is a deliberate limit rather than an oversight.

The one setting that makes signing send

By default, signing locks the note and does nothing else. Getting the note into your practice system is still a separate click.

There is an opt-in setting that changes this, so that signing is also the write. It exists for practices running unattended, where signing genuinely is the moment the work is finished, and it is off until someone turns it on.

If you do turn it on, one behavior is worth knowing. A failure on the practice system side is logged but never blocks the signature. A review should not fail because something downstream was unavailable.
