Graduating to live
What the line is, what happens when you cross it, and why the checking does not stop the day you do.
Shadow mode is not meant to be permanent. This is how it ends.
The line
Five compared sessions in a row, each at ninety-seven percent or better. Your rulings count: a site you marked “Mesio was right” counts as agreement, and one you marked unsure drops out of the total rather than counting against either side.
The scorecard in Settings → Voice charting → Shadow mode shows where you are and what is still short. When the line is met, a Switch to live button appears.
What the switch does
From the next visit, Mesio writes the perio chart into your practice system and your assistant stops typing it. That is the whole change. Notes and treatment plans were already writing back.
As everywhere else, Mesio enters and does not save. The values land in your system's own perio module, site by site, and a person commits them.
The two weeks after
The comparison keeps running with the roles reversed. Your team spot-checks what Mesio wrote instead of Mesio checking what they typed, and the report keeps working the same way.
This is the part practices try to skip, and it is the part that makes the switch safe. Going live is a change in who does the typing, not a decision to stop looking.
If you do not reach the line
That is information, not failure, and the report already knows why. In order of how often it turns out to be the cause:
- The microphone. A laptop microphone across the room. Run the mic check; a clip-on costs very little.
- A handful of words. Two or three that your voice and the recognizer disagree about. The report finds them and ruling the disagreements teaches them.
- A phrase Mesio does not know. Your way of moving around the mouth. The report lists them with a Teach button.
- The other chart. Sometimes the typed chart was wrong and the report is telling you something about your day, not about the software.
You can go back
The mode is a switch, not a door. If a new hire, a new operatory or a bad month makes you want the comparison running again, turn shadow mode back on. Nothing is lost by doing it.
